Tavo- Chili- 2003
Ttoday I was thinking about it, and its been almost 10 years since Eelco and me went to study to the US. For me it was a great experience, I improved my English, met another culture, made new friends, made me mature...
To live with another family is something else, as a resume, in every aspect it was a good decision. As a matter of fact, I wanted to study abroad while I was studying in the university, but for a million reasons I didn't, as I told u, I would have repeated the experience. being more specific, it helped me in my professional career, because only 3% of the population in Chile speaks English, so I have a big "plus". And in my personal life, the most important event is that studying abroad and learning English, is that it helped me to meet my ex girlfriend, since she is from Swtizerland, the only way we had to communicate it was to talk in English. And when I have traveled in South America, Europe or Africa, where I am right now, it has helped me meet people, ask for directions and so on...
I think the secret to be a "successful abroad student" is to be willing to experience, to learn, to oper your mind... and of course to meet a family as nice as yours or Bonny's... To meet people like Eelco... like the guys at school...
